Caring for Carter

I have felt led to help a close friend and her family with a very important need for their son by organizing several fundraisers. Once of which is a donation button in the top right corner of my blogspot. Please read a portion of his story below and if you feel led to help this wonderful family, your donation will be GREATLY appreciated (this donation transaction is protected by Paypal) There are several fundraisers in the planning stages (bake sales, craft shows, garage sales, etc...) so once I have the final details I will let you all know. I thank you in advance for your caring hearts!! Carter Richardson was born on December 7, 2004 at 5:27 p.m. weighing in at a whopping 9lbs 9 ozs. He was perfectly healthy at birth. The results of a MRI taken when Carter was 14 months old showed that he had an Optic Nerve Glioma (a brain tumor), which in Carter's case meant that he had tumors wrapped around both optic nerves and also the chiasm (the area where the nerves cross). He does have significant vision loss due to the tumors. He only has about 20% vision in is right eye and 0% vision in is left eye. Carter just finished his 21 months of chemotherapy in November. In late February/early March Carter was diagnosed with Arterio-Venous Malformation, an overgrowth of blood vessels that intertwine into the muscle of his inner thigh. It is painful at times and is scheduled to be removed in September in Chicago, Illinois. Carter and his family (Mom, Dad, 10 year old sister, and newborn twin sisters) will need to travel to Chicago for this much needed surgery on his leg. Expenses are estimated between $15,000- $20,000 and several fundraisers are well underway to make this much needed trip possible. This amazing little trooper has come through a lot in the past 2 years with great strength. He is certainly an inspiration to us all. The Richardsons still have a long road ahead of them, but trust that God will walk with them each step of the way and bring them out on the other side with more faith in Him. The Richardson Family would love to have your thoughts and prayers as they continue to care for their sweet, loving son. If you feel led to donate to this wonderful family, I know they will greatly appreciate it. Feel free to follow Carter’s story and progress at: http://www.caringbridge.org/cb/viewHome.do
